Sensor Global delivers life-saving integration with PropertyMe

Andrew Cox Nov 24, 2023

Property managers can now test smoke alarms in real-time without leaving their desks or losing hours coordinating physical inspections thanks to a new Sensor Global integration with PropertyMe management software.

In a move designed to save tenant lives and reduce fire-related risks for both landlords and property managers, Australian proptech startup Sensor Global has developed a revolutionary new automated smoke alarm ecosystem. Using IoT (Internet of Things) technology, rental property smoke alarms are connected to the cloud and managed using remote software.

Sensor provides for automated and remote testing of smoke alarms at the intervals as set by the property manager.  No more keys are needed  for access, or organisation of times with tenants and contractors. All communication with tenants is automated and they can choose a convenient time for alarms to be remotely tested.  With the PropertyMe integration information required for effective communications is seamlessly integrated with the Sensor cloud software.

“The PropertyMe integration is one of the easiest and most effective integrations we’ve done to date,” Sensor Global CEO and founder Andrew Cox said.

Fire and Rescue NSW statistics show that 56% of fire fatalities occurred in homes that had a non-working smoke alarm. Landlords in all states are obligated to have smoke alarms installed but physically inspecting them regularly is a huge impost in terms of time, coordination and cost - and if the smoke alarm fails between inspections, tenants are at risk.

Sensor Global’s IoT devices and connected cloud-based software offers remote management, testing and monitoring of interconnected smoke alarms for the residential housing market, making life significantly easier and less stressful for property managers.

The Sensor alarms also send an alert to the property manager if they are tampered with or removed by tenants,  allowing property managers to ensure compliance 24/7, 365 days per year.  become dirty due to dust or other obstructions. This feature will now be visible through PropertyMe.

PropertyMe Chief Customer Officer Sarah Dawson said the Sensor Global integration delivered significant benefits to property managers.

"Sensor Global’s remote monitoring of smoke alarms is an innovative example of how emerging technology can support Property Managers in new and exciting ways,” Ms Dawson said.

“At PropertyMe we are focused on delivering tech solutions that bring real value to the day-to-day of Property Managers. Sensor Global, with a seamless integration with PropertyMe, certainly delivers those everyday efficiencies and a sophisticated safety solution for consumers."

The Sensor Global team has been demonstrating the integration to property managers around the regions as part of a Property Management Partners training roadshow with Julie Collins.
